Golden oculars surveyed the vast expanse of the desert, her slightly hooded gaze traveling slowly from side to side as the heavy weight of the open area seemed to press down on her shoulders. The cold light of the reigning deity that watched over the skies of the night cooled the colors contained in her pelt, cool grays converting to a far harsher moonwash'd silver. The icy eye rested distantly in the sky, the murky blue pierced by the occasional star. The celestial bodies glittered distantly in the sky like the jewels of a kings crown.
The heavy odor of blood hung thick in the air, the dark liquid already beginning to sink in its pools underneath the stiffened mass of flesh that was the deer, the sand well stained with the dark red. A blazing zephyr blew in, the wall of air catching her tail and whipping it to the side, the obsidian tassel being left to wave in its billows in the wind. The sun had long since left its perch in the sky to bury itself in the side of the Earth taking with it the full brunt of heat that it expelled throughout the day.
Her pink tongue was driven slowly over the black rims, the bloodcake mess being swept away and the grey of her fur returning to its untainted colorage. The silver pelage that her breed had to offer at proved a bit of a disadvantage in these lands, the mix of silvers and white lending no advantage to stealth in both the shadows and in the light of day. The femme traveled where she desired when she desired and had resided in this warm terrain for nearly a a day now, deciding to exercise her freedom of travel. Her lands were under no threat at the moment, so she would use this as a time to see exactly who where neighbors where
With the cold eye that was the moon overhead dousing the cloudy crania that had just been thrown back she began to howl. Her own noise bursting forth as a sound as though to challenge the winds. It was a howl not of loneliness, of depression, or even of longing. This was a song of existence, the twilight hymn slicing through the air the long sung revelry that told of the joys of being a wolf.

The moonlight seeped down, night had not dispersed the heat of the desert. The deluded scent of blood hung in the air. The brutes ears pulled back against his oddly colored pelt. His blue eyes were like pools of water draining into a dark abyss. The moon was a huge scar in the sky, weeping rays of pure silver onto the sands, and paling his blueish pelt. He could hear blood pounding in his ears. His feet carried him in a steady lope over the dunes and salt patches. His body didn't show his intentions. He was not hunting. He was simply travailing across the desert, no stopping in site. Heat hanging heavy on his shoulders. Hot sand making the pads of his feet hurt.
A song was what finally pulled him into consciousness, away from his mindless running in the heat. A song that showed a femme was near by, a femme that was unfaded by the fact she was alone, in a unclaimed land. The brute turned his head to the stars. A beautiful alto song rang from his jaws. Tearing a hole in the silence, his call had no meaning, it was his identity, an outcast. Headed her way. A calling card. When his head fell back, he was moving, with meaning this time, A destination in mind.

The answering call came fast on the heels of hers, already fading from existence as it made way for the new sound. It was apparent from the bass tones that the howl was male, and one not at a considerable distance away. Moistened rims drooped into a slight frown, though there were times when she reveled in an opportunity to exercise her authorities and garner an image of more power it would be an entirely pointless endeavor if a fight broke out as this stranger would know nothing of her title. Worthless scars.
No paw was lifted in an effort to greet the stranger, nor was even a gentle flip of the tail shown. Posture was rigid, formal upon the arrival of this lone male. Obsidian tassel was lifted high and presented like a proud banner, ashen crania much in the same manner with gaze calm and even. The pale orbs slid subtly in their sockets as the ashen femme surveyed the appearance of that of the newly arrived, the palette itself motionless and distant. Scouring visionaries remained for a moment longer on the long scar that marred his otherwise handsome features, the female noting that a wound such as that was not the product of another wolves talon.
Jaws parted and the composed voice that had remained so silent during the initial arrival came forth.
"What is your title?"
The words left her mouth as a gentle murmur that spoke not of fear, but of a distant sort of composure that seemed not to allow her tones to hint at any sort interest at his arrival. There was a reason to her not sharing her name, as the laws of formality were not to be ignored. In simply telling of her title first a small shard of her stature would be lost in this meeting, for it was the wolf of the lower stature who introduced themselves first. Had one no knowledge of the proper procedures then that rigid appearance could be chipped away piece by piece with unending informalities. Then what would she be left with? What would be her chorus when the creature that resided behind the armor of rigid structure and adhered laws was revealed? Appearances were everything.
To be frank the femme was a mite irritated, even embarrassed at having one as witness to her moment of weakness at the howl, at having a true emotion displayed. Any sort of visible feeling was just that, weakness. To be manipulated, deceived, such fears were the true ones that could be discovered by the weakness of emotion. The warm air of the desert danced with the moon kissed locks as her mind drifted through secret nightmares of servitude and weakness. Gaze had not drifted but was no longer staring entirely at the stranger for a moment, but was given focus upon the frame of the male as she waited for a reply.

The brutes tongue lolled from his mouth, his breathing was quick and short. Heat weighing down, heavily, on his body. The femme made no jester to greet him, pale orbs barely lifted to his paws. Clearly unwelcome by her body language. But, she seemed to have been studying him only moments ago. Her body showed tension, rigidness that was expected. She had no scars, nothing to obscure her delicate, beautiful, features. Her fur was deep as night, but light as dusk, flowing like the time in between. Her scent was attractive, powerful, filled with her bravado. The thought crossed his mind that she may be a alpha, a wolf claimed by her pack. A wolf who would have contended with him if they were anywhere else. He was unsure who would leave worse off if a fight should occur, he assumed, based on her scent, he would. Her soft words reached his ears, void of emotion, asking his name.
It was something he rarely found the need to say.
Dyvix
His soft, amber, orbs focused more firmly on the femme before them. Deep, blue, fur danced, like a blue flame, against the desert sky. Motionless otherwise. Both were standing without movement, statues uneroded by the desert sands. The brutes tail swayed with the wind, which was still warm. The night had not cooled, but, under the gaze of the femme, he shivered. Internally. Like her eyes had brushed his soul.
And may i question your own?
His velvet voice sometimes surprised even him, to soft to come from the throat of a brute like himself. Unlike any other voice he had heard from any other brute, whose voices were harsh and rough from their lives. He was many times mistaken as an pack wolf for it. His eyes fell to his feet for a short moment, before they again met the gaze of the femme.

Dyvix Came the answer. There was so much in a name that one could learn she had found. When this male spoke his the female was truly irrited by the fact that some bit of knowledge that had come by her, something she did not know. In the back of her mind the name was stored, she saving it for a future meeting perhaps or at some point to discover the history behind it.
And may I question your own? Only silence followed, her gaze lowering with the males descending crania as he took the time to study his feet. Only when his gaze met her again did she speak. "I am Iokaste." were the words chosen to convey her name, spoken simply and in the same nonchalant tone as her words before. As she spoke for a moment it had crossed her mind to withhold her entire title, simply for the sake of seeing the reaction if it was believed she was a commoner. After a quiet moment of contemplation the femme decided to spare the male of any mind games in this meeting. They would be pointless either way as she would gain no benefit. For the sake of entertainment as well would she tell her title, perhaps it would have been interesting to play a regular for a time, but what would the reaction of being an Alphess hold?
A gentle smile decorated her rims as she spoke further.
"I am the Alphess of the Ai pack as well."
((Ugh, sorry about that one))

Iokaste. He let the name roll across his tongue, without speaking. Let it imprint into his mind as he matched the face to the word. What was it he was suppost to say now? What was he expected to say? His eyes fell to his paws once more, the heat feeling even more heavy on his shoulders. His pale orbs settled on her once more, his tongue lolled from his mouth. No words.
So she was a leader. He made no physical movement when he found that out. His mind traced back to the thought for but a moment, before he was focused on her once more. That is interesting, what is an alpha doing out here?
His velvet voice questioned over the soft breeze. His tail wagged slightly. A wolven smirk on his rims. Pale eyes locked on her in wait of a responce. [/blockquote][/blockquote] [Sorry if there are spelling errors, the spell check isn't working for me.]

The question hung frozen on the night air, the visible gold of her eyes growing less and less as they narrowed at the male. Finally she resumed speaking again, voice cold. "That is no concern of yours." Jaw closed, set firmly as she resumed glaring at the male, had eyes been claws he would have been in shreds within seconds.
What was she to say? That there were no wolves to guide so she was just wandering the desert alone? That there were no pups to care for so she decided to leave the lands for moment? Maybe this was a true stranger who was totally unfamiliar with the lands had would have no knowledge of the plague, of the current and infuriating weakness of her lands. Weakness, the words surged through her mind like venom, she wanted to scream with the hating of it. Still, before she left she might as well make an effort to learn something of this Dyvix, perhaps his intentions were good enough to at least tell a bit of her reason.
"Pray tell, what brings you to this place?" Her voice was smooth and diplomatic, and though the before hostile expression that had been on her face was erased, the expression that rested there now was hardly and expression at all. As blank and unfeeling as the face of the moon.

The brute chuckled at the femme's response. His pale orbs locked with her own. His deep pelt swayed in the warm breeze. Blue Markings shown in the moonlight. The desert heat was still unrelenting, hanging heavy like a cloud over the two. A smile tore over his rims. For a few moments, he circled around her, his posture indifferent.
Rims parted to allow words to seap through. I come and go as i please, i am, after all, a wolf with no claims. No mate, no pups, no pack.
Another faint breeze brushed over them, carring with it, the pale, moonwashed, desert sand. His pale orbs never left the femme as he sat down, his tail flailing out behind him. He was unsure what else to say. So he listened to the wind whisper to the desert sand. A question formed on his tongue. The wind took the land again. Where is your mate? [/blockquote] [/blockquote]
